School Planning
This is the time of year in which each school principal in the CBE engages with families, and seeks input on our School Development Plan, Budget and Fees for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. We request that you review it carefully and provide your invaluable feedback through the survey, below.  The survey will take approximately 5-7 minutes to complete. Based on your responses, the school will make important decisions accordingly.
This Dialogue video will also explain School Planning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=545JviDhwMA

Thank you in advance for your involvement in the continual improvement of our school. This survey will be open until March 31, 2024.
Volunteers Needed – French student books
HVS has thousands of levelled books. These books were a substantial part of our reading instruction. Over the last couple years, instruction in reading has developed and now incorporates the science of reading. The science of reading focuses on the development of skills, like phonetics, phonology, syntax, and comprehension to enhance literacy instruction and address reading challenges. Relying on leveled texts may not adequately challenge students or provide the necessary complexity to develop advanced comprehension skills.  For this reason, we need to remove the levels on these books and use them differently in the classroom. We would really like your help with this.  We are inviting any parents/guardians who have a valid Police Clearance Check to come to the school whenever it is convenient. You do not have to confirm your attendance, you can simply come when you can. Thank you to all the volunteers who have already supported us with this project!
Spring Break
The school is closed March 25 – April 1 for Spring Break. Students and staff will return from Spring Break on Tuesday, April 2.  We hope you have a healthy and happy break!
