Visitors & Volunteers
All visitors and volunteers must sign in and out at the main office and wear a school name tag while in the building.
School Entry and Exit
Designated entry and exit doors will be determined at the start of each school year. The doors of the school are locked during school hours. Please push the intercom button located at the front doors and wait for the door to be unlocked.
Parents, guardians, caregivers and/or siblings are asked to wait outside the school at entry and dismissal times. Parents should establish a convenient, safe, and accessible meeting spot outside the school where parents and children meet one another. Parents should remind children regularly that they should always return to the office if their parents are not at the meeting spot. Please wait at a considerable distance from the doors.
Outdoor Supervision
Supervision before school in the morning is from 8:25 to 8:30 AM. Parents should not be sending children to school before these times.
Picking Up or Dropping Off Students During School Hours
Parents are reminded that they must go directly to the office to pick students up during school hours. Parents will “sign out” their child in a record book at the office. It is helpful if you let the teacher know via a written notice or agenda message that the child will be leaving during school hours.
Students who arrive at the school after the entry times need to check in at the main office.
See more on our Attendance page.
Custody / Guardianship Orders
The school will remain neutral in any custodial disputes. If custody or access has been determined by a court of law, the school must be provided with a copy of the Court Order, which will remain in effect until the Order is amended, withdrawn, or expired. Frequently, schools have not been provided with the most recent copies of Court Orders and problems can arise unless the school is advised of changes to custodial matters. You are welcome to call the school’s administrators to review this matter if you have concerns regarding current documentation.
Lockdowns
All CBE schools are required to practice lockdowns in the same way that we practice fire drills. The procedures for lockdowns are developed with the Calgary Police Service and are part of each school’s Emergency Response Plan. If you have questions about lockdown drills or lockdown procedures, please contact your principal.
Evacuation Procedures
In the event that the school needs to be evacuated for any reason, all staff have been trained according to CBE standards. All schools have a primary and a secondary evacuation site. In the event of an evacuation, you will receive an email, phone or SMS notification from the school.
Video Surveillance Technology
The Calgary Board of Education may install and use video surveillance technology at select schools to support maintaining a safe and secure environment and to help control vandalism and criminal activity on school property.
Personal information gathered by video surveillance is collected under the authority of the Education Act and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) section 33(b). The users of this information are the principal or designate and law enforcement personnel in the case of reported incidents that would require an investigation. Only authorized persons will review video surveillance information.
This technology is considered a complement to, and not a replacement for, CBE's strategies in supporting a welcoming, caring, safe, and respectful learning and work environment for students and staff.
Approval, installation and use of video surveillance technology will comply with Administrative Regulation 1066.
For questions or concerns, please contact the school principal.
