Swimming Lessons
We are excited to announce that all students will be taking part in swimming lessons in June at Sir Winston Churchill Pool.  Each class will receive four consecutive days of lessons.  We are in the process of finalizing the times/dates that each class will attend, and will provide this information to you as soon as it is finalized.

We will require many volunteers for each class that will assist the students at the swimming pool.  Volunteers must have a valid police clearance completed through CBE.  Please email Elise at ebwolff@cbe.ab.ca to check on the status of your police clearance or to get the volunteer clearance process started.  It can take up to 6 weeks to get the clearance completed.

The City of Calgary provides a discounted price for students from low income families to attend swimming lessons.  If you require financial assistance for swimming lessons, please contact Kim at kiwong@cbe.ab.ca.  This information needs to be provided before swimming lessons start.

Volunteer Tea
We invite our volunteers to come to our Volunteer Tea on May 10 from 8:30am – 9:30am.  Please see the attached invitation.

Safety Reminder – from Mrs. Chastko
Hidden Valley school staff are committed to the safety of students and their families as they head to and from school. We continue to see unsafe practices, such as jaywalking and U-turns in the playground zone in front of our school. CPS Traffic Safety Unit and Bylaw Officers have been out a few times this year.

It is important to remember that, while we do not enforce traffic safety, we must do whatever we can to ensure ALL students and their families are safe when they travel to and from school.

I would also request you share your concerns regarding traffic safety, as is described here:
Complaints, where a specific violator or license number can be identified, should be referred to the non-emergency line at 403-266-1234 for appropriate dispatch response. What if people are constantly speeding in our community? You can complete a TSR online or call the TSR line at 403-567-4029.

Volunteers Needed – French Student Books

We really need your help! We have thousands of levelled books that need to be re-labelled in order to be put back in students' classrooms.  You do not need to read or speak French to help!  We are inviting any parents/guardians who have a valid Police Clearance Check to come to the school whenever it is convenient. You do not have to confirm your attendance, you can simply come when you can. Thank you to all the volunteers who have already supported us with this project!

Next Year Plans

We are working on our plans for the 2024-25 school year.  Please let us know if your child will not be attending Hidden Valley School.
