Volunteers Needed – French student books
HVS has thousands of levelled books. These books were a substantial part of our reading instruction. Over the last couple years, instruction in reading has developed and now incorporates the science of reading. The science of reading focuses on the development of skills, like phonetics, phonology, syntax, and comprehension to enhance literacy instruction and address reading challenges. Relying on leveled texts may not adequately challenge students or provide the necessary complexity to develop advanced comprehension skills.  For this reason, we need to remove the levels on these books and use them differently in the classroom. We would really like your help with this. We are inviting any parents/guardians who have a valid Police Clearance Check to come to the school whenever it is convenient. You do not have to confirm your attendance, you can simply come when you can. Thank you to all the volunteers who have already supported us with this project!
Hidden Valley School's Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures
As we welcome new families to Hidden Valley School, we want to take this opportunity to review our drop-off and pick-up procedures. We request that parents refrain from dropping off students before school supervision starts at 8:25 am. Additionally, timely pick-up at the end of the school day is essential to the safe transition of students to their families; Monday – Thursday, dismissal is at 3:10 pm and on Fridays, it is 12:40 pm. Please be mindful of the dismissal times and plan accordingly to collect your child promptly.
We ask that parents come into the main office to sign your child in when they arrive after the bell.
The staff parking lot is not to be used as a pickup or drop-off spot at any time of the day as this causes a significant safety concern.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in following these procedures.

Dressing for the weather
We love to embrace the great outdoors, even when temperatures are cold! It's important for students to come prepared with proper outdoor gear each day. Coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and warm footwear are all must-haves to keep students warm and happy during chilly days. Please dress students accordingly.
Gratitude Message from Council
We have surpassed our goal of $5000 raised in our “Show the Love” donation campaign. Our Hidden Valley School community raised over $2,000 in cash and cheque donations and an additional $4,000 in online donations in February! A total of $6,150 was raised!! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who contributed to this fundraising campaign. We have seen the love our school and community has for our future playground space!!
