Change of Clothes

While it isn’t quite spring yet, we are enjoying beautiful spring weather. Children sometimes have slips or splashes outside, making their clothes wet or dirty and uncomfortable. We often provide students with a change of clothes to ensure they can get back to their class and learning. We’ve been so busy that we now have no extra clothes left. Please consider sending your child to school with a change of clothes in their backpack. And, if you have any clean, gently used clothes at home, that you can donate, please drop it by the office. We would appreciate it.

Volunteers Needed – French student books

HVS has thousands of levelled books. These books were a substantial part of our reading instruction. Over the last couple years, instruction in reading has developed and now incorporates the science of reading. The science of reading focuses on the development of skills, like phonetics, phonology, syntax, and comprehension to enhance literacy instruction and address reading challenges. Relying on leveled texts may not adequately challenge students or provide the necessary complexity to develop advanced comprehension skills. For this reason, we need to remove the levels on these books and use them differently in the classroom. We would really like your help with this. We are inviting any parents/guardians who have a valid Police Clearance Check to come to the school whenever it is convenient. You do not have to confirm your attendance, you can simply come when you can. Thank you to all the volunteers who have already supported us with this project!

Spring Break is Right Around the Corner

Students' last day of class is March 21, with March 22 being a day of Conferences. Students are on Spring Break on March 25, 26, 27, 28, 29 and April 1. We welcome students back on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
