Remembrance Day at School
On November 19, our school will be holding a Remembrance Day ceremony to honour the sacrifices made by veterans and active service members who have helped shape our freedoms. This meaningful event will take place during the school day and will include student reflections, music, and moments of silence.
Due to limited space and the number of students attending, we are unfortunately not able to invite families to join us in person this year. We appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure the safety and comfort of all students.
We encourage families to continue discussions at home about the importance of remembrance and the ways we can show gratitude for those who have served and continue to serve.
Honoring Our Veterans and Active Service Members
As we prepare for our upcoming Remembrance Day ceremony, we wish to take time to honour and acknowledge the brave individuals in our school community who have served or are currently serving in the military.
If you have a family member who has served or is serving, we would be honoured to include them in our tribute. We will acknowledge these individuals with a special slide during our ceremony, which will include their information and photograph. We will also include a current picture of your child(ren) on the slide to highlight their connection to this honoured family member.
Please send the following information by Wednesday, November 4th, to Genevieve Clarke at gcclarke@cbe.ab.ca:
- The name of the person
- The position or role they held
- A photograph of them (if available)
This recognition is a meaningful way for our students to understand and appreciate the sacrifices made by those who serve. We thank you for helping us make this ceremony a respectful and personal commemoration of courage, service, and remembrance.
