CBE | Hidden Valley School - Spotlight on Administrative Regulations  

As part of our commitment to keeping families informed, all CBE schools have been asked to share several important Administrative Regulations that help guide the creation of safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environments. We encourage families to review the regulations linked below to better understand the expectations and practices that support student success and well-being across CBE schools.  

AR 6005: Student Code of Conduct  

The Student Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for respectful, responsible, and safe behaviour in CBE schools. It helps create a positive learning environment where all students feel welcome, valued, and supported. We are sharing this regulation so families are aware of the standards that guide student behaviour and our shared commitment to maintaining a safe and inclusive school community.   

AR 6006: Progressive Student Discipline  

This regulation explains how schools respond to student behaviour using a progressive approach that focuses on teaching, support, and restoring relationships. Rather than relying solely on consequences, the emphasis is on helping students learn from mistakes, develop positive behaviours, and be successful at school. We are sharing this regulation so families understand how behavioural concerns are addressed within CBE schools.  

AR 6031: Welcoming, Caring, Respectful and Safe Learning and Work Environments  

This regulation outlines the shared responsibility of students, staff, parents, and community members to create learning environments that are welcoming, caring, respectful, and safe for everyone. It reinforces the importance of belonging, diversity, inclusion, and respectful interactions within our school community. Honouring Truth and Reconciliation this September 

Truth and Reconciliation remains a key priority for the Calgary Board of Education and an important commitment within the current Education Plan. As we continue to advance the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action, we recognize the importance of ongoing learning, meaningful action, and building respectful relationships with one another and our communities. 

CBE Truth and Reconciliation Week | Sept. 21-25 

CBE acknowledges Truth and Reconciliation Week each year in alignment with the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation. Truth and Reconciliation Week invites all CBE staff, students, and families to engage in meaningful learning, reflection, and action. Schools and offices are closed Sept. 30. 

Sept. 30 Community Events in Moh’kins’tsis  (Calgary)  

All CBE staff, students, families, friends, and neighbors are invited to continue learning and show support at the fifth annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation & Orange Shirt Day event taking place at the Confluence Historic Site on Wednesday, Sept. 30 from 9-10:30 a.m. 

This important community gathering is a collaboration between the City of Calgary, CBE, Calgary Catholic School District, Calgary Police Service, Calgary Fire Department, and The Confluence.

CBE Child & Youth Well-Being Family & Caregiver Online Series 

The Calgary Board of Education invites all parents and guardians to join a live online series on supporting child and youth well-being. The series is hosted by the Recovery Alberta Community Education Service (CES) Program in collaboration with local experts from the Calgary community. These sessions are FREE and provide information, resources, helplines and services to support healthy child and youth development. Kindergarten Eye See...Eye Learn Program  

Eye See…Eye Learn™ is a program that provides kindergarten-aged children in Alberta with an eye exam from an optometrist. If required, kindergarten children also receive a free pair of eyeglasses. 

Eye See…Eye Learn™ is available to all kindergarten children in Alberta. It’s important to address eye health and vision problems before children begin school. Children are eligible from July until they begin Grade 1. Parents can begin by selecting a participating Eye See…Eye Learn™ optometrist.
