Attendance Reminder for Parents

Please remember to call the attendance line for all attendance notifications—including absences, late arrivals, early pick-ups, or any changes to your child’s day.  The attendance line is available 24 hours for your convenience.

This also includes letting us know when your child will NOT be riding the bus.

We promise - it’s quick and painless!
Call 403-777-7236 ext. 1 for the attendance line.

Late Bussing – Notification from School

There have been a couple delays with our buses lately. Southland gives us an estimated delay time (ie: 30 minutes) but sometimes the bus arrives later than what was estimated. You can sign up for email notifications around delays for your child’s bus here: https://www.myschoolbusmonitor.ca/ParentLoginNew.aspx

Here is the procedure we will follow if one of our Hidden Valley buses are running late at the end of the day.

  • We will send out a School Messenger text to families once we are made aware of a bus delay.
  • If a bus is delayed, you have the option of picking your kids up from the school or having them wait for the bus. We will keep them safe in our Learning Commons until their bus arrives. If you plan on picking your child up, please give us a call at the office 403 777 7236 to let us know.
  • Once the bus has arrived and students are loaded, we will send you another notification so that you know when the bus is pulling away from the school.

Cold Weather

Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for outdoor activities. Students are only kept indoors when the temperature, including wind chill, is below –20°C. Even on cold days, outdoor time is still possible.

Each day, students should come prepared with:

  • Winter boots
  • Snow pants
  • A warm winter jacket
  • Gloves or mittens
  • A toque (winter hat)

If you are experiencing difficulty obtaining these essential items, please email Mr. Trevor tbcassidy@cbe.ab.ca

HVS Food Drive

Our school is proud to announce that we are participating in the Mayor’s Food Drive. We will be collecting food donations for the Calgary Food Bank from December 1 to December 12! We invite families to help support our city and community by bringing in non-perishable food items. Some of the most commonly accessed items at the Calgary Food Bank are:

  • Canned vegetables and fruits
  • Pasta and pasta sauce
  • Rice
  • Cereal
  • Peanut butter
  • Canned soups, beans or meat
  • Baby formula & diapers

You can send donations to school with your child. Every contribution makes a difference, and together we can help ensure that families in need have access to nutritious meals this season. Thank you for your consideration, generosity, and support!

Winter Concert

We are thrilled to announce our upcoming Winter Concert: Sounds of Winter featuring performances by our Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2 students!

Each student will perform in two concerts (morning and afternoon) on their assigned day. However, to manage the audience size, each family is invited to attend only one performance.

You will receive an invitation for one of the two performances your child is participating in.

If you have a scheduling conflict:

Please contact Karen Fenton (kafenton@cbe.ab.ca) to request a change.
