Toys, Trinkets, Technology etc... at School
Hello Families,
To help all students stay focused, calm, and engaged in learning, we are asking that toys, trinkets, Pokémon cards, hockey cards, and other personal items from home remain at home. Items brought to school often become distractions, can cause conflict between students, and are frequently lost. For this reason, these items are not permitted at school or in classrooms. If students do bring them, they will be collected and returned at the end of the day.
Each classroom already provides a wide variety of centres, learning tools, books, and self‑regulation spaces to support learning through play in appropriate ways. Students with an IPP who require specialized strategies will continue to have access to the school‑supplied tools they need.
We also want to remind families that CBE’s “Away for the Day” guidelines apply to all K–9 students, in alignment with Ministerial Order #014/2024: Standards for the Use of Personal Mobile Devices and Social Media in Schools. Students are expected to follow a no cell phone rule during instructional time, and this includes smart watches. These devices can be distracting and may interfere with learning. If your child has a special circumstance that requires an exception, please connect directly with your child’s teacher so appropriate arrangements can be made.
Please support us by reminding your child to keep these items and devices at home or away in their backpacks during the school day. This helps us maintain a focused learning environment and prevents students from becoming upset if something valuable goes missing.
If you have any questions about your child’s specific needs, please reach out to their teacher.
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership.
Mrs. Chastko and Mr. Trevor
