Before School – No Supervision

For student safety, the playgrounds are closed before school as there is no supervision at that time. Our staff are focused on welcoming students through soft start, bussing, and Hug N’ Go. We kindly ask that students not be dropped off before the bell at 8:42 a.m., when supervision begins.

Jacket Racket – Supporting Warm Winters for All Kids

Jacket Racket is a wonderful Calgary program that has been helping children stay warm during the winter since the 1980s. Community volunteers collect, clean, and distribute gently used winter clothing such as jackets, snow pants, hats, and mittens to families who need them.  If your child could benefit from warm winter clothing this year, please feel free to reach out to Trevor by email (tbcassidy@cbe.ab.ca) before November 14th. All requests are handled with care and confidentiality — we’re here to help ensure every child is warm and comfortable this winter!

Volunteers needed

Parent Council is so thankful to everyone who has signed up to volunteer for next week’s casino fundraiser. They are still short a few volunteers for night shift so if you’re able to sign up please refer to the paper QR code that was sent home or previous emails for more details. 

Fall Break

There will be no school from November 8–12, and we look forward to welcoming students back on Thursday, November 13.

School Council – Upcoming Meeting – November 19

Parents are invited and encouraged to attend HVS Council and Friends of HVS Society meetings in person or virtually (Zoom). The next meeting will be taking place on Wednesday, November 19 at 6:30 pm. What are Student Learning Conferences?

Student Learning Conferences provide time and space for families to have meaningful conversations with teachers about how their child is progressing in relation to the intended learning goals. During these conferences, teachers share evidence of your child’s learning — such as assessed work, reflections, and examples of achievement — to highlight strengths and next steps for continued growth.

Picture Day Update!

We have an exciting change to share with families — our Picture Day has been rescheduled! Individual photos will now take place on Thursday, November 20, with retakes on Wednesday, December 10.

Volunteer Clearance

Once you have received your Calgary Police Service Clearance Letter, please send a PDF copy to Mme Elise. ebwolff@cbe.ab.ca

This is a required step in completing your volunteer clearance with the CBE.
