Ms. Dang's grade 1/2 class sorted and counted the items that were donated to the Veterans Food Bank. They counted over 370 non-perishable items that were donated. They were able to pack 10 boxes of items!
Accidents Happen
We are running out of spare clothing for students who have an accident while at school. If your child comes home with clothes that we have lent them, please make sure to wash them and return them at your earliest convenience. If you are doing a closet cleanout and have any pants and/or underwear in sizes 5 – 10, we would happily accept any donations.
Lost and Found Items
We have set up the lost and found items in the gathering space area outside of the gym. We have asked teachers to walk their students through the lost and found

VOLUNTERS NEEDED – student book
HVS has thousands of levelled books. These books were a substantial part of our reading instruction. Over the last couple years, instruction in reading has developed and now incorporates the science of reading. The science of reading focuses on the development of skills, like phonetics, phonology, syntax, and comprehension to enhance literacy instruction and address reading challenges. Relying on leveled texts may not adequately challenge students or provide the necessary complexity to develop advanced comprehension skills. For this reason, we need to remove the levels on these books and will use them differently in the classroom. We would really like your help with this.

We are inviting any parents/guardians who have a valid Police Clearance Check to come to the school whenever it is convenient for you. You do not have to confirm your attendance, you can simply come when you can. Thank you to all the volunteers who have already supported us with this project!
