Overdue Library Books  We have many students who have overdue library books to return.  Please have your child return their library books in a timely manner.

Late Arrivals   Parents are asked to walk their child to the main doors and sign them in at the office. Thank you for your help with this.

Winter Gear Reminder  Let’s make sure that students are bundled up for school – this includes a winter coat, gloves, toques, snowpants and boots. Packing an extra pair of mitts is also a good idea! Please label all items, as many clothing items end up in our lost and found. If labeled, they will be more likely to return home.

Lost and Found  Our lost and found collection is growing. Parents are invited to come into the front foyer to look through the lost and found items.

Wash and Return Students who require a change of clothes while at school have been provided with clothes from the office. We kindly ask that when your child comes home with these clothes, please wash the clothes and return them at your earliest convenience.

Out of School Care Information  Hidden Valley School will have an Out of School Care program, starting in the 2024-2025 school year for students in Kindergarten through Grade 4. Registration is ongoing.

Stay safe, stay off storm ponds  Before lacing up, The City of Calgary wants to remind you and your families to be safe while enjoying outdoor skating.

City of Calgary or community-designated outdoor skating rinks are open, offering fun, free skating for all skill levels. Rinks maintained by The City are checked daily for ice thickness and quality, and surfaces are flooded as needed to make sure they’re safe for skating.

Prior to lacing up, it’s important to remember that not all ice surfaces are safe for skating. While your community storm pond may look inviting, recreational activities are not allowed on them.

Storm ponds play an important role, helping to provide protection from overland flooding while returning cleaner water back to the river, but they have hidden hazards that make them dangerous to people and pets. Storm ponds contain sediment and contaminants (e.g. bacteria, fertilizers, pesticides, vehicle fluids, metals and road salt) that are collected as water travels across properties, streets, and roads that can weaken the ice. Rapidly changing water levels cause unstable air gaps and quickly changing depths, and ice thickness can vary. That’s why it’s not safe to skate, walk or play on storm ponds.

Fish in Classroom  Our fish are growing!  Their spines are darkening and their yolk sacks are getting smaller as they eat up their nutrients.
