Registration Information – Lottery Process   Registration is open for new students who will be attending the 2024-2025 school year. The CBE Registration page provides a comprehensive overview of the registration process. Please find it here.

Next year, Hidden Valley School will have a cap on the number of students enrolled in Kindergarten and Grade One in Early French Immersion. If the number of Expressions of Interest are larger than the space we have available, we will hold a lottery draw to determine who will be offered a place in French Immersion.

As Calgary continues to grow and evolve, so does our student population. The lottery process was established to ensure fair and equitable access to schools, programs (regular, alternative) or grades, experiencing a student population that is either at capacity or over capacity. This process provides a consistent approach across our system.

Kindergarten & Grade 1 Early French Immersion registrations submitted prior to the lottery deadline of 12 PM (noon) on Feb. 13, 2024, will be included in the lottery draws. All registrations received after noon on Feb. 13, 2024, will be added to the callback list (based on the appropriate priority level) in the order they are received.

Please note: Registration for our Regular Program will not be capped, therefore we will not implement the lottery process for this program.

Kindergarten – Morning or Afternoon Enrollment  Hidden Valley School will offer a half-day Kindergarten Regular and French Immersion program. Upon registration, parents/guardians will be asked if they have a preference for their child be enrolled to attend Kindergarten in the morning (AM) or in the afternoon (PM), Please note, enrollment in the preferred class (either AM or PM) will not be decided on a first come, first served basis. When possible, we will attempt to group students who attend the same out of school childcare together, either in the AM or PM.

If the number of students who request AM or PM align with the numbers of spaces we have available, then attendance will be confirmed based on parent / guardian choice.

If the number of students requesting either the AM or PM spots are larger than the space we have available, we will complete a draw to determine when each student attends.  Confirmation of enrollment in either the AM or PM class will be shared with parents / guardians in the spring.

Out of School Care Information  Hidden Valley School will have an Out of School Care program, starting in the 2024-2025 school year for students in Kindergarten through Grade 4. Registration is ongoing.

Student-Led Open House – as this is an Open House, families do not need to register to attend. Students must attend with their family  Our Student-Led Open House will be an opportunity for students to take the lead on sharing evidence of their learning, sharing their areas of strength and accomplishments, discussing next steps and setting their own learning targets.

As this is an Open House, you are able to attend at anytime between 4:00pm - 5:30pm. Your time at the school can take anywhere from 15 – 30 minutes.  It is an important time to spend with your child.  The teacher will be there to celebrate your child’s learning.  As this is an Open House, teachers will not be able to have individual conversations with parents/guardians regarding their child’s progress during this time.  We look forward to seeing you!

School Council Bottle Drive  The School Council’s bottle drive fundraiser will take place on Sunday, January 21 from 10 am to 2 pm.  School Council hopes that students and families will be able to help out with this event. Parent/student volunteers are being asked to help pick up bottles.
