One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council. Under the Education Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory and decision-making authority defined within the Education Act and the School Councils Regulation. They are different from Parent Societies & Associations, whose main function is to raise funds for the school. You can find more details in the CBE School Council Handbook.

About Our School Council
School Council meetings are held at Hidden Valley School on the second Wednesday of every month at 6:30pm. This is a fantastic way to hear about what our students are learning through their teachers first hand as well as understand what kind of support the school staff and administration need in order to enhance our students’ learning and needs. This is also a great way to have a voice in the way we support our school. The School Council Handbook and Operating Procedures are posted on the school website to provide a bit of background information for anyone with questions about what the role of our School Council is. All parents/guardians are welcome to attend so please don’t be shy and show your support by signing on. Monthly meeting agendas and minutes will be posted on the school website in a timely manner for reference.
